asceticcyan:(Couldn’t decide which contrast I liked best, so hey, have both)The K’tusah is a creature frequently mistaken for a flower by the unwitting outsider; in truth, this delicate organism is more fauna than flora.First discovered by the Chiss when drilling deep into the natural subterranean warrens of Csilla, after the long and endless winter began to claim the surface. Their glow is only minimal when closed; the creatures only open their ‘petals’ either to feed, to reproduce, when stressed or after they expire.When those first explorers broke through into the cavern, it is said they startled the creatures, and a carpet of eerie blue-green light greeted their weary eyes. Their glow guided them long after the power cells in their lamps failed. To this day, despite now being a protected species, many more traditional Chiss light sources still draw upon this natural luminescence.So it is that over the years they have come to be known among Chiss- though especially Csillan natives- as a symbol of both beauty and resilience in the face of great struggle. A symbol of hope.When pressed and dried, though their luminous quality fades, they take on the appearance of delicate, translucent glass; like a spray of dragonfly wings. -- source link
