Our girl characters are some of the most inspiring role models for young women and girls around the world. Together we’re using our television programs and other media outlets to promote and support young women and to help girls achieve their highest ambitions. Meet some of the girls that have changed our lives. (Top to bottom; left to right)*Chamki is a vibrant 5-year-old who lives on Galli Galli Sim Sim in India. She has a flair for language, building her vocabulary with new words and creating clever tongue twisters. Chamki is a problem solver too, and serves as a bright and energetic role model across India! Thank you for the work you do, Chamki! *Abby Cadabby is a sweet flying fairy who lives on Sesame Street! She loves to sing her ABC’s and 123’s with all of the new friends she meets. She especially enjoys giving hugs and sharing with her friends during play time. Abby is a helpful resource when it comes to learning about acceptance and resilience, and most recently taught us about celebrating our unique and different qualities for the Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children campaign! * Tuktuki is on Sisimpur in Bangladesh and Baghch-e-Simsim in Afghanistan. Tuktuki comes from a low-income family and recently started attending school. She serves as an example to girls, demonstrating their potential to excel. Her role is just as important in Afghanistan where girls’ access to education is severely limited. *Khokha lives on Alam Simsim in Egypt and never stops dreaming! She has plans of being an engineer, a doctor, and a lawyer – all at the same time! Khokha and her friends help children learn letters and numbers while working to change attitudes about girls’ education. Alam sim sim places special emphasis on the education of girls, an effort central to Egypt’s commitment to lifting the status of women!*Raya is our 6-year-old global health ambassador and our key WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) advocate. Raya’s work in India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Zambia is critical to the advancement of a young girl’s life. Health and hygiene disproportionately affects girls’ well-being and can keep them out of school. Raya’s goal is to teach everyone about the importance of proper hand washing practices, latrine use, and so much more! She’s a wealth of knowledge and dedicated to her cause. -- source link
