Mr. and Mrs. Richard Crane Fund, IMACoats worn by non-samurai firefighters were composed of at least three layers of coarsely hand-woven, indigo-dyed cotton fabrics that were stitched together. The heavy quilted coats were wetted down in order to protect the firefighters during fires.A crane and a turtle are depicted in the interior (shown) of this coat.
