commodorecliche: I’m sure others on this post have mentioned this too, but what’s extra shitty about check-out charity donations is that the company is legally allowed to count their customer’s charitable donations on their own, and use them for taxes write offs. this means that your donation (which may or may not even be going to the organization at all) is being used to give a billion dollar corporation a massive tax break (sometime to the tune of millions of dollars). avoid check-out charity donations like the plague. if you want to donate, definitely do so directly to the charity. -- source link
