Pair of Gibson Banner J-45s, and two of the best vintage Gibson dreadnoughts I’ve ever had the pleasure to play. Tons of variation in these early J-45s due to Wartime shortages, so not all have truss rods (both of these do), and the woods differ quite a bit. 1945 example on the left with the usual spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck combo, and 1944 on the right, also with a spruce top and unusual flame maple back/sides/neck. The back is even a single piece of maple, and it’s far and away the burliest Gibson with these tonewoods I’ve ever encountered.
