prolifeproliberty:patron-saint-of-smart-asses:y’all wanna take a gander at the most ignorant boomer post I have ever seenSee, I would agree with the comic if it weren’t for:1. Young people being pressured to go into debt to pay for degrees they don’t need2. Young people being told to “just get a degree, it doesn’t matter what its in.”3. The flood of young people with degrees and no work/life experience in the job market making those degrees practically worthless4. Government-subsidized loans giving universities permission to inflate tuition prices because students can “just take out a loan.”If you’re in high school, please know this: college is NOT a “rite of passage.” The ONLY reason to go to college is to get a degree. If you do not need a degree to do what you want to do in life (or to get a career that will support what you want to do), DO NOT GO TO COLLEGE.*Research your options. Most people look at trade/vocational schools and community colleges as lesser options for students who can’t get into “real” college. This is a lie. There are careers that pay a middle- or upper-middle-class salary that require a certification or an associate’s degree, but not a 4-year bachelor’s. There are also careers where you start out with an apprenticeship and end up with a hefty salary/wage and the opportunity to run your own business.Take time to research what you really want to do or what you can do that will allow you to make a living. Then, find out what kind of education is actually required to be successful. Remember, if your true passion doesn’t pay, you need to find a job that will pay for your passion. *if you get a full-ride scholarship, absolutely take that and use it as an opportunity to explore your options. Just don’t go into debt for something you may not need. -- source link
