gffa:YOU EVER STOP TO THINK ABOUT HOW THE PARALLELS BETWEEN DIN AND GROGU AREN’T JUST NARRATIVE PARALLELS BUT THAT GROGU IS A JEDI YOUNGLING, WHICH MEANS HE HAS THE ABILITY TO SENSE PEOPLE’S THOUGHTS? AND THAT GROGU SURVIVED THE GENOCIDE OF THE JEDI? AND THAT HE WOULD HAVE SENSED WHAT DIN WAS THINKING ABOUT? AND WOULD SEE THE SIMILARITIES TO HIS OWN PAST?In “The Jedi”, Ahsoka tells Din about Grogu’s thoughts, explaining to him, “Grogu and I can feel each other’s thoughts.” and “At the end of the Clone Wars when the Empire rose to power, he was hidden. Someone took him from the Temple. Then his memory becomes… dark. He seemed lost. Alone.”We know Grogu survived Order 66 and still carries the trauma of that with him, as well as all the horror that happened to him along the way as the Empire hunted him down just for being born the way he was. And the parallels between Din rescuing him as a foundling versus Din being rescued as a foundling himself are there, but also it’s not just that, it’s that Grogu himself is aware of those parallels. And you stop to think about why Grogu trusted Din so quickly, why Grogu understood Din. This is why he felt safe revealing himself with the mudhorn or wanting to help heal Din–because Grogu saw those thoughts in Din’s mind, saw the terror and horror of being attacked, of explosions and death all around, the frantic attempts of his parents/guardians desperately trying to protect him, even at the cost of their own lives. Hiding him away. Someone sneaking him out of the danger to be taken to safety. Then there’s a hand in the darkness, when the people who loved you are gone and dead, you still carry that wound with you, you’re trying to heal, but it’s not until that hand in the darkness, reaching out to you, shooting down the droid that had found you and was going to kill you, that you can begin trust to reveal yourself, the things you’ve kept hidden away for so long. Because this person, you can feel their thoughts and know that they understand everything you’ve been through, because they’ve been through it, too.Grogu knows that he and Din are the same. That Din can be trusted to not do those horrible things because he’s experienced them, too.AND GROGU REACHES OUT AND OPENS HIMSELF UP TO THIS CONNECTION WITH DIN BECAUSE THEY UNDERSTAND EACH OTHERNOBODY TOUCH ME I’M CRYING ABOUT SPACE DAD AND HIS KID -- source link
