Before WWII, Rudyard Kipling used the swastika as his emblem. In this 1914 book, his stamp is on the front page as well as embossed on the leather binding. After it became a symbol for the Nazi party, he banned the use of his prized stamp in 1935 and had them all destroyed since the good luck symbol had become ‘defiled beyond redemption’. -- source link
