Wut Sooooooooooooooooooo Lee Daniels…well first of all, the preview for the movie shows that it is going to suck donkey nuts, but on top of that, he wants us to really believe that Mariah, if she was an actual slave or field worker, would be in the fields and not in the house cooking, cleaning and serving the food to them good white peoples? Or she wasn’t walking around trying to find her a white boy to marry and pass? Fuck outta here, Lee Daniels didn’t try at all Considering Mariah is what Black folks consider to be “white passing", this is inaccurate as fuck. She would have either been adopted as a white-passing child (because likely she would have been the daughter of the plantation owner and another slave) once her amniotic sea-changes were done and she was deemed light enough to pass for white, or she would have been working in the house but still allowed to be “raised" alongside the other “legitimate" children, but still placed in a lower class as an “indentured servant". So no. NO. Dark skinned Black people can’t even have their own history, now? So this is awkward. -- source link
