Jsuki; Gesu no Kiwami Otome. “Daruma Ringo” GesuKiwa is back with their 3rd and latest studio album! Originally slated for a November 2016 digital release and December 2016 physical release, due to Kawatani Enon’s personal issues (I think let’s not go there again since it’s such a long story), the album was pushed back and released only 10th May this year. In between, from December 2016 to April 2017, the group also had zero activities. No singles were released prior to this album’s release, so every single song is brand new, and the only way to hear it were to watch the MVs (which came out way early before the sudden postponement). It also only came in 1 type, which meant there were no extras like DVDs or stuff. On its fist day of the album release, the album also got 1st on the Oricion daily ranking. However, compared to their last album, which sold 71k copies, this album performed extremely poorly at 15k sales. As a GesuKiwa fan, it was rather frustrating; musically, you know that this group has ticked every box, and their songs are always mostly good, but it’s obvious their reputation has dropped drastically because of Enon’s problems :/ They went up so quickly, but also fell just as fast. In “Daruma Ringo”, my favourite tracks have got to be “Kokochi Azayaka ni” and “Shiawase Ringo”. Some of the others I also got hooked on were “Katte na Seishun geki”, “Kage Song” and “Dancer in the Dancer”. It’s really an enjoyable album for me, and I actually liked it more than their last album… I really hope that GesuKiwa can pick themselves up. As much as I dislike Enon for his antics, but what everyone can agree on is that he is musically talented and be it in GesuKiwa, indigo la end or DADARAY, his presence is most definitely felt.
