Just finished getting this working model of the Salvage Station No 8 installation to the point where I feel okay handing it off! It’ll be built this July by summer campers at an amazing summer camp(Beam Camp) that teaches kids how to build things. It’s kind of a dream gig, and I am so ecstatic to be working with them I rarely build models these days, since I usually lead my own installation crews, but I felt that it would be helpful to do so this time. Usually it would be a white model, but I had already done my design and elevations in the correct scale, so it was pretty easy to just get them printed and then paste them into the model. Aside from generally explaining to people what they’ll be building, a working model is useful to help visualize a structure, document how rooms should be painted(there are more corresponding docs) and show where the electrical fixtures go. Installation art is a ton of fun, but some weeks, it is spent in the close company of a lot of illustration board and an xacto knife. -- source link
