Coming home… to Philly & @foreveryarn_doylestown. You ever just have a moment in your life, where a place, a memory, or even a person, can touch your soul; you feel so connected and so understood, that experience just becomes a part of who you are? To everyone who is new here: thank you for being a part of this incredible journey I am on! ⬅️scroll left⬅️ It all started for me in Philadelphia, PA. I graduated from Tyler School of Art (Temple U) in 2012 with a BFA in Fibers, Materials Studies & Textile, as well as a BFA in Printmaking. Like most college students, when I graduated, I didn’t have the slightest idea what I wanted to do, or where I would work. To keep a very long story short I started, what you all know now as Primrose Yarn Company, only equipped with the skills I acquired in the 5 years I spent at Tyler, dedicating my studies to: dying, fiber blend experimentation, breed studies, wool and the textile milling process, and the like. Fast forward 1 year later- after what seemed like hundreds of cold calls placed to yarn shops across the country, I phoned @foreveryarn_doylestown. A lovely woman picked up the phone. Inexperienced at describing a “hand dyed yarn company”, I briefly flew through my background and what I was about and what I made. Without even seeing a single item, or sampling a product, she placed an order. My husband came home that night, and I could not contain my happiness or emotions! Finally- someone who believed in me as much as I wanted to believe in myself. I think it can go without saying that it is a most perfect cosmic fate that the first shop to carry Primrose, Yan’s shop, is located in proximity to the city that gave me everything I needed to be what I became. I think it can also go without saying, for every dyer, the first shop that takes that one chance on you, leaves the most tremendous and monumental mark on your heart that you just never forget. To @foreveryarn_doylestown, Yan, and all the beautiful makers there, I will never forget. I will be @foreveryarn_doylestown this Saturday 4/23 from 11-4, bringing all the beautiful yarns, hanging out, knitting, and chatting all things fiber! I am so happy to be coming “home”.
