Steamnudists.Steampunk and neo-victorianism is a modern movement that recalls an era when things were made with care and grace. Etiquette and social decorum were the mark of the high class as were bodices and high collars. Despite their stuffy clothing, I have no doubt there were nudists back then too. It certainly wasn’t practiced the way it is today, but the modern naturist movement didn’t just spring into being. Think about it, the conditions were perfect for a naturist revolution. They were dealing with issues like pollution, overcrowding, and a loss of greenspace. Issues we are facing today. We feel the encroachment of the city and want to make a healthy lifestyle that allows us to coexist with nature as nature intended. Fortunately we live today and have the ability to look back and avoid the mistakes they made and the paths that didn’t work. The majority of steampunk may focus on the clothing and aesthetic, but there’s no reason we can’t be a part of it too. We can be Steamnudists! Text © Made in the Nude.
