An old friend of mine had twins seven years ago, a girl, Evy, and a boy, Elias (and later, another sweet son). Elias was stillborn. My friend is open and vocal about her loss, because it’s really hard for loss parents to do sometimes. People don’t know how to react because it’s literally the worst thing that can happen to a person. But my friend appreciates when people acknowledge Elias, because he matters. He still matters to her. Every year she does a little act of kindness drive in honor of Elias. I decided it was a good time to make these hats for newborns at Queens maternity, where my son was born two years ago on Christmas Eve. I love that these will warm some new little baby coconuts. I made a bunch of Christmasy ones too, but forgot to take photos of them! If, by the way, you want to do this for a hospital near you, call first to see what kind of restrictions they have. Queens requires that all hats be made from new materials, from a hypoallergenic environment. I used 100% cotton and washed them in Eucalan, then sealed them in plastic baggies and wrote the care info on slips of paper. -- source link
