lubiddu:This is Lydia R. Diamond, acclaimed playwright. Reading her bio makes me feel like the laziest person on the planet, because she’s got to be up all night doing what she does (hope she likes coffee!). All her work concerns the intersections of race and class. Her play Stick Fly just ended its Broadway run. Stick Fly gets its name from entomology; the lead character (Taylor) is an entomologist whose journey in life too-often resembles that of the mounted flies on display.Anyway, I got to meet Ms. Diamond for the briefest of moments after she spoke at a recent cultural event, where she “let it slip” that she’s in the process of reworking Stick Fly for a possible HBO series. She suggested that those of us present might write to HBO and encourage them, remind them that there is an audience for this sort of production. So….if you have a few spare moments, please follow the links I posted; check her out. If this is the kind of work you’d be interested in seeing, if this playwright produces the kind of work you’d like to see more of…..signal boost. Thanks much. -- source link
