mrjandmrshq: kingandqueen-of-gotham: mrjandmrshq: David Ayer gets it. He gets it but yet he directed the damn movie?? @kingandqueen-of-gothamI’m not sure exactly what you mean, because Joker and Harley did end up together at the end of Suicide Squad. But someone at WB/DC definitely came up with the “my friends” and the other cheesy lines for Harley. WB got scared and reactionary when BvS didn’t make a billion dollars and when they got those scores of 30%. There’s not doubt in my mind that they messed with Suicide Squad to make it lighter. I mean look at the trailers, remember when the trailers were coming out and the first one the “I Started A Joke” trailer that was really dark and scary? THAT was David Ayer’s movie. We would’ve gotten a scary, realistic gritty movie if WB hadn’t interfered with Ayer’s movie. Then WB got scared because critics didn’t like BvS because it was “too dark” and so they brightened up the trailers, did like two months of reshoots (which I always heard was to change the ending), probably made Harley an antihero and more like-able, and took out the more shocking stuff when it came to Joker and Harley. Suicide Squad was not a good movie and David Ayer is partly to blame for that for sure. I’ve always said the worst parts of Suicide Squad was the script and editing. Ayer wrote the script, which sucked so he’s to blame for that (even though as I’ve said I think that WB made the characters say more lighter and jokey things to make the film lighter). But Ayer is a great director and editor but from what I’ve heard WB brought in the people that cut the lighter trailers (the Bohemian Rhapsody one and Ballroom Blitz one) to edit the movie and make it more bright and flashy. In short, I don’t blame Ayer completely for what we got. Warner Bros. definitely meddled with his movie. -- source link
