Inktober Day #29 is Elvira, Mistress of the Dark who was played by Cassandra Peterson.  Oh Elvira, she was always just so lovable and it’s not surprising why the character became an iconic staple of the 80s with her awesome horror night host show. I remember my brother and I watched a few of her episodes when were kids and that we enjoyed how kooky but witty she was. I got around to watching her movie of the same name and while it was super cheesy, I couldn’t help but adore it and I definitely need to watch the second film. I do have to say though that while Elvira is a icon, she’s not a Goth icon but rather, a “Gothic” one. I only say this because I’ve seen people refer to her as a prominent “Goth” icon but the truth of the matter was that she wasn’t really rooted in Goth but rather, 80s Hard Rock (musically). That being said, with a lot of the Gothic horror films she loves, she’s easily one of the most Iconic Gothic icons and it’s not surprising why many Darkly-Inclined people (me included) look up to her.
