antiquatedfashions: Evening Dress by Charles Klein France, 1910 Metropolitan Museum of Art I’ve been watching Downton Abbey recently, and whilst deciding which Belle Époque dress to post first, I couldn’t go past this one! Dresses with Irish crochet lace were very popular during the Belle Époque. This example of a full-length evening garment fashioned from that lace is given a level of three-dimensionality from the use of lace and pendant balls. They add surface interest, as does the arrangement of the ball fringe over the peach velvet hem band. -- source link
