for some reason I woke up today and said ‘I think I can beat Planet Robobot’s True Arena boss rush’. this, as you can see, is true, but only with the help of the Animal Crossing amiibo card that came with my copy of Happy Home Designer; an entire set of six Animal Crossing Series 1 cards; and my Smash amiibo figurines, which unsurprisingly are of Dedede and Kirby. I actually ended off with the Kirby amiibo so that I could have the Smash moveset with my precious invincible Down-B Stone Change for the end.the thing is, the amiibo don’t come into play until the very end. I can actually get to the start of the true final boss with either full or nearly full health and a Pep Brew in tow, but good god that final boss is gruelling for multiple reasons.preceding the final phase are three phases of rail shooter-esque combat with mind-boggling attack patterns in the second and third phases—I can deal with side-scrolling shooters like the COGS fight just fine, but I am certifiably incompetent at things like this and the Void Termina shooter segments in Soul Melter EX.and the boss can one-hit kill you after being completely depleted of health in what must be one of the most cruel fake-outs in Kirby history! and Kirby’s Stone form isn’t immune to the hit! I learned this the heartbreaking, extremely hard way … although thankfully once you’ve suffered once and know what’s coming, the hit is actually fairly easy to avoid.so I’m pretty sure this is the trickiest, most devious, most difficult boss rush across all of modern Kirby (in terms of completing it at all), for that final fight alone. I haven’t tried RtDL’s boss rush modes but it cannot possibly be as harsh as this, even if you’re forced to use the Wiimote. I actually finished Triple Deluxe’s True Arena on my first try, and as for Star Allies … well, Soul Melter EX does have its own unforgiving shooter segments, but at least Void can’t one-hit kill you while you’re a stone sculpture and the CPU mages can pick up the slack.but Robobot’s True Arena is still totally worth it, because dear god that music and those callbacks and that incredibly depressing pause screen lore … !anyway now I have to farm for all 200 unique keychains for that last sweet 2% completion progress. I’m not necessarily going to complain about having to replay Robobot’s stages because they are a lot of fun, but Forgotten Land knew the way to my heart by introducing Gotcha Machines in Waddle Dee Town and the option to restart boss rushes from the last battle … -- source link
