The gelatinous barrel she’s hanging from used to be a salp, a swimming relative of sea squirts. She catches the salp, eats all the innards, cuts the ends off and uses its corpse as a little vehicle she drives around with her paddles. She pulls prey inside as needed, and when a small male joins her, she’ll raise her babies in it. -- source link
