queenanuka:A few nights ago I fed my ball python, Thor, before I put him into hibernation for the winter. I also got a really adorable picture of him using his body as a pillow. :D He’s my baby boy, I love him to death. I can’t believe he’s going to be 8 next year!Hi dear! That’s a lovely baby you have there, he’s so big! And almost eight! I’ll have to make a hatchday post for him! I see you keep him on sand. I’ve never seen them kept on sand! I’d always thought that they may ingest it, and have it cause impaction. Also, they’re semi-tropical snakes, so they aren’t exactly adapted to sand. (x)(x) However! Cypress, aspen, and paper towels prevent many issues that occur with sand, or if you’d like a naturalistic environment, you can try to create a bioactive terrarium! (x)Also, ball pythons don’t hibernate. (x) While adults, like your boy, experience a fast due to breeding season, they don’t go down for winter. Which means more time for you to spend with him! Yay!I hope this helps you and Thor better enjoy your time together. If you have any questions or need anything else, feel free to message me at @tailsandkabuki. I’d be happy to help! -- source link
