Just started Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and it has already proven to be the single best cRPG I have ever played. The playthrough took me 5 minutes. Woke up in a purgatory-like In-Between, this God-like figure approaches me and starts talking about how she can give me my life back if only I choose to help chase the rogue God that destroyed my castle and killed me. Starts bringing up all my former friends I am supposed to care about, all the miserable people of the world, all the lost souls that need saving.I tell her I’m done, I’ve had it with the gods and their godly business, based on my choices from PoE1 I just need a rest at the long last. There’s nothing she can say or do that will convince me to do their dirty work again. I just want to forget. She nods, a servant escorts me out of the room, the lights fade, my soul gets dissolved into nothingness, the Watcher I used to be slowly ceases to exist, my essence goes back to the Wheel. The music starts playing, the end credits roll onto the screen. This is how it’s done. Player choice. I’m impressed. -- source link
