punkrockmermaid: I don’t know about any of you, but I generally feel like shit in the morning. The air is thick and my mouth is dry and the cat is sleeping so cute that I can’t possibly disturb her and ugh. I just hate mornings. So in my quest to become more of a morning person, I wrote a list on my wall to help me feel inspired and motivated in the morning. Here it is: 1. Get out of bed. Probably the hardest part of this list. Don’t give me that look. Just do it. 2. Open a window. Or if you can, open the window and sleep with it open. You’ll be surprised at how much better this makes you feel. Oxygen = Life. Bro. 3. Smash some cold water up in yo’ face. Not only are you cleaning your pores but it will definitely help wake you up. Double win. 4. Go for a walk/run. If the thought of exercise makes you cringe, just go for a walk to have a look around your beautiful neighbourhood. Again, with the oxygen plus physical activity will raise your heart rate which releases happy-chemicals like dopamine and endorphins. If it’s difficult to find the motivation for this, set out your exercise clothes and shoes the night before. 5. Eat food. Seriously. Eat heaps of food. Good food. Spinach, mushrooms, multi-grain bread and fresh orange juice is my breakfast staple! Iron, all your vitamin B’s, vitamin C, protein and a bit of carbs! 6. Make your bed. You actually won’t even see the benefits of this until you get home. Trust me. It will be worth it. 7. If you’re still having trouble waking up, try your favourite, up beat song. My personal faves for this trick is Dstryr Dstryr by Lost Prophets or Ruby Soho by Rancid. Turn them up, sing, dance around while you get ready and feel inspired. 8. Think about how life is finite. Don’t think about it to the point that you start to plague yourself with thoughts of death, but think that every day you have is phenomenal and the potential for beauty, inspiration, happiness and love is everywhere. In order to get among all of this, you need to get up! Of course there are going to be days you don’t feel good, and that’s okay. We are all allowed to have bad days. We are all allowed to have days we sleep until 1pm. I think, personally, in order for us to live our lives to our full potential we have to take steps to ensure we are staying motivated and inspired, and this is one of mine so I help it helps everyone else. xoxo -- source link
