There are literally no mysteries about the Maoi what so ever. We’ve never not known how they were made, who made them, or what purpose they served, because the Rapa Nui people never fucking vanished. They were right there when the Europeans arrived. They knew about the Moai their ancestors had made, how they made and transported them, and how the excess resources put into them had condemned their island to a century of strife and starvation. And today they’re a very much oppressed minority group on their own island at the hands of the Brazilian government, but much of the world believes conspiracy theory bullshit that they mysteriously vanished before the white man arrived. Actually, it’s the chilean government. Brazil is on the other side of the continent.
