grace-and-ace: I read The Lonely Ace of Hearts- A Journey to Embracing the Asexual Identity by Caryn Purdy. Short review: It’s a sweet personal account of Caryn’s struggle to accept her own asexuality. While this book was not my speed, I can see how it could appeal to others. She makes several statements highlighting how her experience is unique to herself, and she gives some gentle nods to other areas of the asexual spectrum. The book itself is rather small, so it’s an easy read. It is written in a way that reflects speech patterns. If you are looking for a scientific or in depth exploration of asexuality, this is not the book. But if you are asexual, and are struggling with coming to terms with your identity, this may be the book for you. -- source link
