When was the last time you gave someone a compliment? Do you struggle to give compliments to others? Do you struggle even more to receive compliments? Sometimes it’s not easy when we have been raised to be modest and to negatively scrutinise others and ourselves. But giving compliments freely is one of the most beautiful things you can do for yourself and others. Finding something to compliment someone about may feel awkward at first but with practice it gets easier. I love telling strangers they look great. If I see someone with beautiful hair or gorgeous eyes or they’re wearing a great outfit, instead of just thinking it, I’ll tell them ‘wow you have such pretty eyes’ or ‘your hair is so beautiful’ or ‘omg that colour looks amazing on you ‘. But you have to be authentic. People can feel when you’re being disingenuous. The great thing is it’s a win-win situation as it will make both of you feel good and very likely you’ll both walk away with a smile on your faces.
