gracedpalmer:Epona:She is a Gallo-Roman goddess - the patron of horses, ponies, mules and donkeys. As Roman influence increased in Gaul, her protections also grew to include cavalry. Unusually for a Celtic deity, she had a feast day in the Roman calendar: December 18. Images of Epona often included a pair of horses or foals, often with the goddess between them. She was also sometimes shown with grain or a cornucopia, suggesting fertility aspects. Shrines to Epona have been found in Roman stables and seem to have been decorated with fresh flowers. -- source link
