dagneyrobertson: 20th-century-man:Photo by Henry Diltz. I remember roadtrips. The excitement at the sight of those bright motel lights after a long day of driving with my goal driven father. A day relegated to the bump on the floor in the backseat, while my sister and brother assaulted me, and each other, with their feet. Susie’s Barbie was tossed out the window somewhere in Nebraska, never to be seen again. But then there were those lights. The promise of A/C, a swimming pool, coarse white towels that smelled of bleach, and a vending machine with Paydays and Zero bars. Top that off with an ice cold Coca-Cola in a glass bottle, bought for and with a quarter and a bucket full of ice for “free”. An oasis for the road weary traveler. -- source link
