the-bang-doll: Some of Mamoru Nagano’s initial drafts for the Heavy Metals and other machinery for 1984′s Heavy Metal L-Gaim.  Even if the show itself has been largely forgotten, Nagano’s designs for it are infamous for pioneering the concept of the internal skeleton and double-jointed limbs, something taken for granted nowadays with all mecha designs.  It goes without saying that without L-Gaim, there would be no Five Star Stories. -- source link
