Day FiveToday went a little less smoothly than the previous four, but overall ok. At least it’s all done with now :)Just after leaving the ward yesterday I started to develop a rash; expected but no less unpleasant. I woke up this morning still with the rash, which looked a little worse but wasn’t itchy (yet). There was a bit of a question as to whether I would need steroids today, but it was decided in the end that I’d just be given an extra antihistamine (piriton, on top of the usual) and get on with it. After the usual urine test, antiviral and antihistamine with obs every half an hour. I also had a really sore and dry throat throughout the day so had paracetamol every four hours to help as well.By the end of the day my rash had gone to a whole new level:(on my face)(…and arms)I had to be re-cannulated for today - sleep last night was that little bit easier without one - which proved to be harder than first thought. I mean, I’m difficult to cannulate but it ended up having to go in my wrist. Not the most comfortable of places! This also meant that the dressing wouldn’t stick properly, so it had to micro-pored instead.Mark and I were joined by the same two other patients from yesterday. They were both a lot more chatty (good for Mark, however the antihistamines kept on knocking me out so I can’t think I was much fun to be around).Today’s lunch was a cheese and pickle sandwich followed by some nuts. I was quite hungry today, but also quite ‘out of it’ so didn’t get much down.No blood test today (thank goodness!) and home time was around 3pm. Time to head home after the four nights at the hotel. I really appreciated being home!!So there we go, I’m done for the next year (hopefully). Thank you to everyone and good luck, especially to MarkN.B.
