the-forest-library:lizziethereader:Weekly Bookish Question #283 (May 1st - May 7th):Tell me about a recent book you’ve read that was genuinely surprising in some way (can be good, bad, or neither)! No One is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood surprised me in a few ways. First, Lockwood is the owner of Miette (of the jail for mother! Jail for mother for One Thousand Years!!! fame). I had no idea she was a writer. Then, the first half of the book is an irreverent look at internet culture. It feels like someone stitched together tumblr memes into some sort or narrative (I say this in the best possible way), and it was really working for me until the second half of the book, which introduces a much more serious topic that seemed to come out of nowhere. oooh I did not know that! sounds like a bit of an unfortunate experience, though -- source link
