stonedalone: Although she faced the possibility of death, she overcame the odds. Today, she remains a fighter. Through her diagnoses, her mentality was tested in more ways than one. She lost more than her leg. She lost a blossoming relationship, and friendships I’m sure she thought would strengthen with the deterioration of her health. She wasn’t my best friend when she was in the hospital, or when she was having her cells burned from the inside out. She wasn’t much of my friend at all, but I stood and held the hands of those who held hers. I am selfish to think that without her getting sick, she might not be in my life. Yet, I know that without her in my life, there would be an eternal void. She carries a wildfire inside of her; it burns untamed along with her ferocity to live. Her life path detoured only to meet with mine, and with the mergence, I was given a small torch of her internal flame. In a way, I think that her sickness cured her. She lives selfishly now, and I think that is the best thing that you can do for yourself. -- source link
