mismaeve:the-ring-wasnt-even-pretty: mismaeve: kristorey: per my last post i like to think of Thranduil as part of the horror in Greenwood as it turns into Mirkwood as well in his own way that doesn’t harm anything, he’s just attached to the forest and everything in it in an eerie way and says creepy things on occasioni go by book thran cuz the movies are stinky but that one deleted scene of the deer bilbo sees would be cool if it was thranduil able to project his fëa into animals he binds himself to so he’s sorta omnipresent in the forest to both guard his borders & bc he a forest gyal ♂️ Can this please be canon? @the-ring-wasnt-even-pretty isn’t this one of your theories as well? @mismaeve Yes it is! I love the idea of Thranduil being able to shapeshift into different animals, but I especially love the idea of him being able to turn into a deer. It’s just something about that concept that really appeals to me. Like; okay, even if he can’t/couldn’t shapeshift into a deer ( which would be so damn incredible), then at least have him feel everything that the animals and trees in his forest feel and think etc. I mean, he is the king of Greenwood/Mirkwood, which automatically entails that he is the king of all the trees and animals there as well. And since he is a good king, a good king then listens to his subjects, protects them, cares for them. I don’t know, I just want it to be canon so badly. And if someone could draw Thranduil in his deer form; I could die happy! exactly what i was tryna get across in this comic! like he can communicate with the forest on another level and thats why the corruption of the greenwood makes him more nervous bc the forest itself tells him there is something dark thats taken root there than just an illness and he’s aware of this necromancer’s presence before anyone and might even suspect the return of Sauron but is too afraid to say it aloud -- source link
