The Japanese American Citizens League was the only Asian American organization to join the March on Washington in 1963. That was for a couple reasons: one, because it wouldn’t be until 1965 that immigration restrictions from Asia would be loosened to allow more Asians, and two, because some older Asian Americans felt that they should let blacks take care of their own business.
