2018 was my running comeback I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2019. February 27, I started to finally feel like I wanted to run more after being injured for the majority of 2017. The next day, I would find out about the NYCM lottery. I didn’t get in, but a month later I registered for Marine Corps, and thankfully my body kept its sh*t together for the months to come. I ran a race I was proud of in October. 2018 mileage: I doubled 2017! I also listened to my body so much while training for the marathon and was careful to increase my miles methodically. There’s still a lot of work to do to prevent injuries and get faster in the future. 2017 miles were unimpressive, but it was a year full of changes (so was this year but most of them made my life & training easier rather than more challenging.) and I feel no regrets for having my lowest mileage year in probably my entire running career - although who knows how many miles we actually logged in high school, running to the grocery store to buy cookie dough instead of coach’s planned route . Thanks @strava for giving me a way to compare by the numbers, and thanks Instagram for giving me a place to remember how I’ve felt about running over the past 4+ years. I love being a part of this running community (even during injuries) because so many of you serve up serious inspiration every day and it’s enough to keep me chasing goals. Let’s go 2019 https://www.instagram.com/p/Br5UFW2Ba-C/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8mzbblgunpth -- source link
