propagandamagazine-gothic: Known primarily as Propaganda Magazine’s leading goth model, which was an extension of his membership in L.A.’s quintessential goth band London After Midnight, John Koviak also played with the local industrial group Fixed Image around 1991, which is when this photo was taken. Although his rivet-head look was not as flamboyant and elaborate as his undead style, it was no less striking. It was a persona that would likewise inform his solo project, the electronic darkwave Sub Version, which he pursued with some success for the remainder of the decade. This photo was taken at the Griffith Observatory in the Hollywood Hills, an intriguing location evocative of vintage science-fiction films, which was also used for several other Propaganda photo-shoots.
