ohdarnitripped: ex0skeletal-undead:Devoured by the Sun by Anastasia Tupikova (xyzyx.art) This piece is so amazingly moving. My brain almost hurts. You look at this beast, this creature is the night, and you see their desperate eyes and sweated brow, and you think “they’re afraid; I have to help them.” There’s an urge to desperately pry out those spikes from their arms, anything to halt the melting that has begun to take the wing. You think “why would people do this?”And then you think, again, “why would people do this?” Was this a crime? An act of hate? Who in their right mind would nail a thinking, living thing to a stone, one carved with runes and symbols (AN IMPORTANT STONE)? If this being is a child of the night, would a stake to the heart not suffice? Would it not be easier?Suffering is the intent.Someone took express intent to make sure this terrified being would die slowly and painfully. Unfortunately, those of us familiar with the beasts of campfire stories know that such creatures tend to be misunderstood and vilified. Is this an act of prejudiced fear? Is this someone I should be helping?Or is this a sentence to a crime? And what crime could warrant such a punishment? -- source link
