Let’s face it, Kate has remained unmarried for so long because she couldn’t find a man who would follow her around and be more loyal to her and protective of her than Newton. And then Anthony barges into her life turning her world upside down, sweeping her off her feet and outdoing the canine. What Newton does, Anthony does it 10 times better. Unlike the corgi, Anthony doesn’t even need a leash to follow Kate around like a loyal dog would his mistress. (If you don’t count the invisible one which becomes more tangible each day he spends in Kate’s presence. He pretends he doesn’t want to wear it but his attempts to get rid off it can be best described as unenthused.) He does it willingly but if Kate wanted to put an actual leash on him, he would eagerly let her tie it around his neck, asking her why it took her so bloody long. He pursues her with dogged determination of a lovesick puppy and horny rutting stud, spurred on by the ability to sniff her out and find her anywhere – in every secluded corner, on merry chases, in a storm, even during his own wedding to her sister, he even offers to follow her to the end of the Earth and abandon everything he lived for – with a nose that gives Newton a run for his money (as if he had an embedded Kate radar). Anthony snarls and growls at any men who comes near her or dares to lay claim on her or her attention, just like Newton does at him.Anthony would give anything in his possession to have Kate lovingly scratch his ear or cuddle with her and curl up on her lap… and in the end, Kate stops cuddling Newton and starts cuddling Anthony who finally gets all those thing – getting to curl up on her lap, having her caresses his ear and so much more. Not only does he give more more pleasure in return than Newton does, he purrs and moans more, as well.Perhaps, Newton grew tired of Kate’s denial and spinster life and decided to join the matchmaking game, why else would he position himself right next to Anthony when previously he only growled at the Viscount and didn’t even bother to get on his feet when he saw him at Aubrey Hall. One might guess it was the ultimate stamp of Newton’s approval and his blessing to Anthony to pursue his mistress. In the end, don’t birds dogs of a feather flock together and to the same mistress? -- source link
