Same with the windows that look a bit grimy and cracked. It really feels like a separate world with its own history Yes I do believe the devs used real photos for most of the world textures in hl2, gives such a great earthiness to the environment, the juxtoposition between the completely realistic look to the surfaces with the flatness and generally quite simple world geometry is just such a fucking aesthetic its so good well ive been informed that using photographs as textures is actually quite commonplace and what makes hl2 textures more unique in fact is the editing and specifically sharpening used on the images , basically im dumbass and should shut up but i think my point still stands cool Not gonna lie guys I’m feeling real stupid over this one -- source link
