Ταρταρος Tartaros was the primordial god of the stormy pit of Tartaros that lies beneath the foundations of the earth. He was the body of the pit itself rather than an anthropomorphic deity.The universe was envisaged as great sphere with the solid dome of the sky forming the upper half and the inverse dome of the pit of Tartaros the lower.
