The spider can move across and climb icy surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, difficult terrain composed of ice or snow doesn’t cost it extra movement.ActionsMultiattack. The spider makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its kick.Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) piercing damage plus 18 (4d8) cold damage. If the target is a creature, it must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion. Creatures with resistance to cold damage have advantage on this saving throw, and ones with immunity automatically succeed.Kick. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6+3) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) cold damage.Ice Web (Recharge 5-6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 30/60 ft., one creature. Hit: The target is restrained by a thick layer of ice. While restrained, the target takes 10 (3d6) cold damage at the end of each of its turns. As an action, the restraine target can make a DC 12 Strength check, bursting the ice on a success. The ice can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 12; hp 10; vulnerability to bludgeoning and fire damage; immunity to cold, poison, and psychic damage). When elemental forces collect into a constant body shape, one of the available forms that seems to appear constantly is that of the spider. Some speculate that a powerful spiderlike entity purposefully replicates its form across all the planes of existence to spread its power, others believe it’s simply a coincidence as spiders are very efficient hunters. Whatever causes spiders to manifest across all of the multiverse, there are always those who do not appreciate it. Ice spiders are more intelligent than some other examples of spiders, at least as they get older. They can speak, though rarely do they learn any languages beyond those of the elemental planes they most often travel, and despite their tendency to kill and devour other creatures they can be reasoned with. They are not truly evil, having no deeper desire to hurt those who they discover are also intelligent, and often unless they are desperate and have no other food source they will avoid attacking those who they recognize as sapient beings. Unfortunately, their most common metric for intelligence is if they can understand, so any creature that cannot speak their language is usually assumed to be unintelligent and therefore perfectly acceptable to eat. Young ice spiders are fully capable of taking care of themselves, though they have even less understanding of the world than the older ones. They hunt desperately for food, rarely able to understand the distinction between good or bad prey. Fire wards them off though, and they rarely attack if there’s a source of open flame.
