daresplaining: [ID: Excerpt from Punisher Kill Krew. Foggy runs across the barren landscape of Nidavellir to Juggernaut, who is frozen to the ground.] Foggy: “Wow, what happened here?” Juggernaut: “I think ya mighta just killed everyone! Grab that sword and get me out of this!” [ID: Foggy grabs a black sword sticking out of the ground and holds it up heroically.] Foggy: “Oh, gosh! I’m too late! He already ate them. We will avenge them!” Foggy: “Another man wrongly imprisoned, freed by Franklin Nelson!” [ID: Foggy cuts through the ice that was trapping Juggernaut, and they run across a bridge toward a creepy-looking building.] Foggy: “Wow, this sword is so light!” Juggernaut: “Fer a civilian yer all right, Nelson. But you better hand over that sword.” Punisher Kill Krew #5 by Gerry Duggan, Juan Ferreyra, and Cory Petit I’m a sucker for comics that are just plain, shameless fun, and the just-concluded Punisher Kill Krew mini-series was exactly what I needed. The premise is solid and standard Punisher-y with an extra cosmic kick: Frank contacts children who were orphaned during War of the Realms and sets off into space to hunt down the monsters who killed their parents. I cannot overstate the high entertainment value of watching a sword-wielding Punisher in a Viking helmet chop up fantasy creatures while soaked in Frost Giant blood. It was an even bigger treat to have Foggy guest star (sans Matt!) in this story, completely in over his head and terrified, but using his legal know-how (and also a sword) to do things that we have definitely never seen him do before. He can now put “Punisher team-up” on his resume, and I hope he does. Foggy’s heroism is a little over-the-top slapstick in this, but given the context, this was probably unavoidable, and I’m officially stamping this series as a must-read for Foggy fans, as well as for anyone who just wants five issues of a gory, Norse mythology-flavored good time. -- source link
