konami-code-ao3:jerichogallery:Point of deviation I love the differences in expressions here!Kara is amazed and frightened by what just happened, which is understandable considering how her deviation is almost framed as an accident. Like, she didn’t know what she was doing when she pressed against those walls but she knew that she had to get through them and, yeah, she’ll consider the implications of what just happened later but she’s got some other shit to deal with right now.Markus is just pissed the fuck off, and that’s amazing. He’s angry at Leo for attacking him and Carl for ordering him not to fight back and himself for allowing this situation to get as out of control as it is and he’s just absolutely done with this crap. And, sure, Markus doesn’t always have to fight back against Leo but you can’t deny that he doesn’t at least think about doing it, even if he doesn’t commit to violence right off the bat.And Connor?Connor is horrified. One part of him is now hyper-aware of the blood on his hands in a way that he has never considered before and the other part is so overwhelmed and confused by the fact that he had every reason to kill the deviant leader but actively chose not to. Because there is only one line that could possibly be going through Connor’s head right now, and it terrifies him more than death.“What have I done?” not to mention how the 3 of them break through their red walls exactly highlights their reactions afterward!kara’s deviation is the most timid out of the 3- the silhouette of her is scared, almost hesitant at first. it also reflects what most players are feeling in that moment, since most don’t know what’s going on (they just want to get to alice). as the QTEs progress, kara also gets more confident pushing against the wall. it’s slow, but it finally cracks- but kara knows that her deviating is the least of her problems. when the player gets to markus, they’ve already seen the red wall. they know what’s going to happen, which is what makes markus smashing and ramming through his red walls with zero hesitation so satisfying. it’s like he’s been waiting so long for this- all this anger pent up, boiling inside of him, finally being released.unlike kara and markus’s deviations, connor’s breaking of his red wall is almost strategic. markus and kara both just push against the wall till it breaks, but connor tears down his walls, at very precise places. because unlike them, connor knows what he’s doing, he knows the consequences. but he does it anyway, because it’s the first time connor’s doing something on his own accord, and if there’s anything we know about connor, it’s that he’ll make sure nothing gets in the way of what he wants. and that’s also when he also realizes that that freedom is exactly what he’s taken away from so many others. -- source link
