Playa, rochas y ciudad, Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, 1980.Had a brief love affair with this spot before it was “discovered.” Until the mid-1980s, access required riding an overnight bus, driving rather bad roads over the mountains from Oaxaca City, or flying in a DC-3 over the 3,000 meter divide between the city and coast. On arrival it was heavenly - cheap, fantastic food, a good surfing beach, a nearby bay with a little bit of coral for diving, fishing, and best of all uncrowded. Thanks to SECTUR (Secretaría de Turismo), no more - now an international airport and high rise hotels. -- source link
