It was October of 2014 since I first laid foot inside this government bank as an employee, contractual employee to be exact. My contract lasted for 3 months but the boss of the department I applied in made sure that I had my contract for as long as I want. The workload overwhelmed me during my first few months and I told myself I’d stay until my 3rd month. But the circumstances were very stubborn and it led me to stay for another couple of months. Six, ten months turned into a year. I took the annual Landbank exam and was really surprised to see myself in the list of passers. You see, if I hadn’t passed the exam I would have the biggest excuse to leave the bank and pursue another career. The thought of not passing the exam excited me, so to speak. Moving on, the Vice President of Western Visayas called me in for an interview on the position of being a Bank Teller in Sipalay Branch (which is 4 hours away from Bacolod City). Taking the chances and, using the interview an excuse to have the day off from work, I showed up at the interview. After the interview, I had my mind fixed not to grab the opportunity considering the distance and expenses I would incur since I would technically be living alone. A week after the said interview, I received a call saying that the VP actually chose me for the position. I don’t know what to do or how to react since I was half-hearted to the offer set before me.I weighed my options and this is one opportunity for me to be regularized and have benefits. I took the chance. Maybe it’s what they say, to take that leap of faith. I don’t what will happen to me in the next few months. Since Sipalay City is very laid back as compared to Bacolod. I don’t know if I can keep up with the lifestyle of rural cities. But I am just blessed beyond measure. I must have done something for God to give me blessings I haven’t exactly prayed for. Or I probably have an angel out there to whisper all the good things I did for receiving such blessing. So here I am being so grateful for this wonderful opportunity. Low-key life here I come. -- source link
