the herringbone search.olivie auclaire-wang arrives at northridge academy without so much of a whisper as autumn winds down into winter. the teachers introduce her without much fanfare, because auclaire and wang are two surnames that mean nothing separately. They mean even less combined. olivie auclaire-wang is a nobody. she blends right into the background noise.but isaac sobol notices her.briefly, the thought flits through his mind that this is like one of those novels where the boy meets the girl’s gaze from across the bustling entrance hall. the scene is set: picturesque, plucked straight from a coming of age film with a sepia filter, and a slow chopin waltz performed by none other than the renowned victory lwin playing in the background. yet unlike those scenes, olivie catches him looking and curls her upper lip in disgust. she wants nothing to do with the students at northridge academy who are used to being somebody.isaac has to know her. -- source link
