gracedpalmer:Anat is a complicated Syrian goddess, referred to simultaneously both as a constant virgin and as the consort of Ba'al Hadad. She is loving and protective toward her family, but bloody and vicious in revenge. In a set of tablets from Ugarit, she is described as knee-deep in blood, battling the enemies of Ba'al and taking trophies from their bodies. Oddly enough, this fierce goddess was invoked for peace. Her worship also spread to ancient Egypt, where she was seen as the consort of Set, god of foreigners and chaos. -- source link
