chayscribbles’ monthly writing update ☆ march 2022☆ STATISTICS.words written: 17 282projects worked on: Andromeda Rising, Maraya (And Marshall’s) Guide to HuntingVoidwalkersproudest accomplishment: i finally gave up on AR3 <3☆ GENERAL COMMENTS.so idk if anyone noticed but i was absent from writeblr for a greater chunk of the last month. i had a whole salty post written up but i’ll spare everyone the negativity. in short i was very discouraged by my writing as well as my writeblr experience and needed to pull back a bit. if i have to be honest tho, i think i might not be ready to come back and be active on here much yet. i kind of liked keeping my writing to a much smaller audience for a while, and work is busy so i’m not sure i can dedicate a lot of time and energy here. so like i know i just came back lmao but i guess i’m immediately going into another (semi?-)hiatus whoops(however!! i’m still very active on discord if anyone still wants to follow my writing! dm me for the link!!! it was originally created just for AR but i’m pretty much just in new wip mode now lmao)more specific wip-related comments + featured excerpt below. ☆ COMMENTS: ANDROMEDA RISINGso uhh let’s address that proudest accomplishment shall we!i finally gave up on trying to get AR3 to work right now. i think it was the best thing i could have done for my writing and for my sanity. when even writing one sentence a day was a struggle i knew there was something very wrong and i had to stop.there’s a lot of things that factored into this decision. for one, i think i might not have been ready to finish the trilogy yet? like there are a lot of different plot and character threads i needed to tie up for once and for all, unlike in the first 2 books where i could just leave stuff for the next book, but now there is no next book. and i haven’t actually finished a project in so long that honestly i’m not even sure i know how to write an ending anymore. i wanted to take the time to practice with smaller, lower stakes projects before coming back to this one.also, i was putting a lot of pressure on myself to make it Good– after the first 2 books i started to take this project a lot more seriously than i did in the beginning when it was just a silly AU.finally, the third book itself does get more serious in tone (like not grimdark but there are some heavier things that happen), and with everything happening in the world right now it was kinda bogging me down that some of the Bad Shit was finding its way into my writing, which is usually a form of escapism for me.AR3 isn’t dead forever, ofc, i still have the first draft of the first 2 books, and hopefully i’ll return to this series someday and finish it. but sometimes ya gotta know when to bail <3☆ COMMENTS: MARAYA (AND MARSHALL’S) GUIDE TO HUNTING VOIDWALKERSOKAY MOVING ON TO HAPPIER TIMESsome fun background facts! i actually had the very first idea for this wip over a year ago (i just checked and the first idea dump doc i made for this wip was from oct 2020???) but didn’t do anything with it at the time bc i think i was in MR&F mode. but now that i needed a silly willy wip, something to have fun with, something that wouldn’t require too many braincells, this was perfect. it was a LOT different back then actually but i gave it a facelift and have been possessed by the writing demon ever since.icymi here is the unofficial wip intro. it’s about siblings and being a pathetic bisexual and having social anxiety. and there’s shadow monsters too i guessit’s been REALLY FUN writing this so far. everyone in this wip is a loser (affectionate) in some way or another. Maraya is painfully relatable to me as a pathetic bisexual with social anxiety. her relationship with Marshall is definitely one of the sibling relationships i’ve ever written. i’m writing in 1st person again like i used to do almost exclusively before i saw people online bashing it and got self-conscious (??? i’ll never understand that. 1st person narration fucks). i am drowning in self-indulgence and being silly and goofy, like god intended.however like i said earlier i might not end up posting much about it here. i think having less eyes on it is actually part of why it’s doing so well so far (knock on wood). so uhhh if this wip interests you here’s another shameless self-plug for my discord i guess!! ☆ FEATURED EXCERPT.this is from voidwalkers, bc it’s been pretty much pure voidwalkers brainrot in lately. have some Santos twins <3 they’re in an abandoned hotel filming for Marsh’s show.“Shortly before the hotel closed down for good,” Marshall related to the camera as I followed him down the hall, “a freak electrical fire killed two of the hotel’s visitors, a young couple from Spain who were sleeping at the time. At night, people passing by can still hear the crackling of the fire and the cries of its victims, who now haunt this room and the entire floor, searching for revenge.”I rolled my eyes. Now he was definitely making things up.“My camera person doesn’t seem to agree,” he said, to my annoyance. “Anything you wanna add, Mari?”“Don’t bring me into this,” I grumbled, although I didn’t bother to stop recording this time. “For all intents and purposes, I am not here. You are talking to a floating camera.”“Who is holding this floating camera, then? A ghost?
