Marion Lakes/Mt. Jefferson Wilderness | Day 1 | 18.5 miles | 6/21/20 • This trip felt more like a backpacking trip than lasts week trip did. I had hiked a loop similar to this one last year, and as I set out for the overnight trip, I knew it was going to be a hard hike but it ended up being a little more difficult than I expected. I guess I still need to get my trail legs back. The hike started out in wandering through the forest, with a pleasantly warm morning. As I continued on, the day began to heat up and the trail entered, exited, and re-entered several burn areas, where I was forced to climb over a ton of downed trees.
