You might be a bit obsessed when you find yourself awake in the middle of the night tying fishing lures. And it once again occurred to me, while stringing together pink beads and glittery objects, how absurd it is that many men consider fishing a “masculine” hobby. Men who spend their days tying pink and chartreuse feathers, wisps of fur and thread, beads and sparkles into “finesse presentations”. Not that such a hobby is inherently “feminine” either; it’s just bullshit either way. Incidentally, probably the biggest change occurring right now in North American fishing is an unprecedented wave of women getting into fishing, now accounting for around 30% of the market, compared to something like 3% a decade ago – at least according to the men who write fishing articles. I tied these two lures hoping to target coho and chinook salmon in the tidal waters around Vancouver, just before they enter the rivers and streams on their fall spawning runs. We’ll see how they fare. -- source link
